What is inside Phuket FantaSea

Phuket FantaSea is an evening theme park in Kamala on Phuket’s west coast. The park’s website calls it a “cultural theme park” of 140 acres (about 57 ha) with a shopping street, a 4,000-seat dining hall and a 3,000-seat theatre. There are no amusement rides: the website says the park has none of the rides found in conventional theme parks.

The show “Fantasy of a Kingdom”. Staged in the Palace of the Elephants theatre. According to the park, it combines Thai mythology, illusions, in-theatre effects, aerial ballet, acrobatics, indoor pyrotechnics and elephant performances. The host is the Prince of Kamala. There is little dialogue and the story runs on music, with narration and songs in English and Thai.

Restaurants. Two buffets: Golden Kinnaree and Suriyamas Seafood. Suriyamas is known for grilled tiger prawns in tom yum sauce, but it has no vegetarian line and no halal zone: both are in Golden Kinnaree, and Suriyamas guests may use its dishes.

Festival Village. A shopping street with souvenirs, the Viva Bangkok stage with live performances before the show, and photo spots. Nearby are Fort Kanom Thai (fast food), the Kamala Pier restaurant with live music after the show and the Similan Entertainment Center arcade.

Tiger Jungle Adventure. A “theatrical safari” with local animals and light effects, open 17:30-21:00 and included in every ticket. The park notes that exhibits may change or close without notice.

An evening step by step

This follows the “Suggested Itinerary” on the park’s website as of 18 October 2026. It is the park’s guideline, not a fixed schedule.

  1. 17:30-18:00: arrival, entry, security check
  2. 18:00-19:15: dinner at Golden Kinnaree or Suriyamas
  3. 19:15-19:45: photo spots and elephants (rides are paid)
  4. 19:45-20:00: live performances on the Viva Bangkok stage
  5. 20:00-20:45: Festival Village, shopping
  6. 20:45-21:00: walk to the theatre, 5-10 minutes from the entrance
  7. 21:00-22:10: the “Fantasy of a Kingdom” show
  8. 22:10-23:30: music at Kamala Pier and late shopping

Opening days and how long to allow

According to the website the park opens on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, 17:30-23:30. It is closed on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. The home page gives the show at 21:00, while the online booking form offered 17:00, 19:00 and 21:00 sessions on 18 October 2026. Your session is stated in your booking confirmation.

For the 19:00 and 21:00 sessions the park advises arriving by 18:00, for others at least an hour before the show. An evening with dinner takes 4-5 hours, 4-6 with the ride.

The website names no seasonal closure. The show and the restaurants are indoors, so weather mostly affects the walk between halls, which is outdoors. January-March are the driest months, August-October the wettest.

Getting there and travel time

The address on the park’s website is 99 Moo 3, Kamala, Kathu, Phuket 83 150, by Kamala beach. Road distances from OpenStreetMap (OSRM, no traffic, 18 October 2026):

FromDistanceTime
Patong, centre9.3 kmabout 11 minutes
Kata20.0 kmabout 24 minutes
Phuket Town21.3 kmabout 25 minutes
Airport25.6 kmabout 37 minutes

The park runs a hotel transfer across the island: minivans on a fixed schedule, shared, with a private transfer for an extra fee. You can ride in from one hotel and back to another at no extra charge. The park generally does not run airport transfers. A taxi and tuk-tuk station stands at the entrance, and the car park is free for up to 750 cars or 200 coaches. A Phuket Smart Bus stop called “Phuket Fantasea” is described on the Kamala page, and we did not check evening bus times.

  • Ticket types are Show Only and Show + Buffet Dinner. Theatre seats are Standard or Gold, with a Suriyamas Gold upgrade: seafood buffet and a Gold seat

Animals in the programme

Animals appear in three places. According to the park itself:

  • Elephants in the show. The park lists “elephant performances and stunts” as part of the production
  • Elephant rides. The evening plan includes an “Elephant Ride”, paid separately
  • Tiger cubs. Visitors can hold a cub in the theatre lounge. The park says the cubs are born and raised in captivity under a breeding programme it sponsors, and that availability is not guaranteed
  • Tiger Jungle Adventure. A “theatrical safari” with local animals

In February 2026 World Animal Protection put its general position this way: if you can ride, hug or take a selfie with a wild animal, please do not, and do not support such activities. The organisation wrote this about tigers in Chiang Mai, not about Phuket. If you agree with that position, you can buy a ticket and skip the elephants and cubs: the show does not depend on them.

What to do in rain

The show and the restaurants are indoors, and the theatre is air-conditioned. The walk between the entrance, the restaurants and the theatre is outdoors, so bring an umbrella or rain jacket in the wet season. The park’s website has no rain refund policy and an issued ticket is not refundable or changeable, so choose your date with some weather margin.

Safety and rules

  • There is no dress code as such, but shirtless visitors and swimwear are not admitted. The theatre is chilly
  • Photography and filming are banned in the theatre: cameras and phones are left at the entrance, with free deposit and lockers
  • Outside food and drinks (including durian) are not allowed in the park, restaurants or theatre
  • Security checks at the gate: hats, sunglasses and veils must be removed, weapons are banned
  • No pets, including guide dogs: a pet suite is provided at the entrance
  • The show has pyrotechnics and loud sound, which may frighten small children: parents decide
  • The park stands in a tsunami-hazard area. An evacuation shelter for the Kamala area stands on high ground, a 3-minute walk away

Who it suits and who it does not

  • Suits. Families and couples who want one place for dinner, a show and a walk. People who find daytime heat hard
  • Does not suit. Anyone who objects to elephants and tiger cub contact in an entertainment programme. Anyone arriving on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday: the park is closed. Anyone bothered by noise and pyrotechnics

FAQ

Which days is Phuket FantaSea open?

The park's website says Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, 17:30-23:30. It is closed on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Carnival Magic next door opens on other evenings: Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

What time does the show start and how long is it?

The home page lists the show at 21:00, and the online booking form offered 17:00, 19:00 and 21:00 sessions on 18 October 2026. The park's suggested plan gives the show 21:00-22:10, about 70 minutes. Your session is stated when the ticket is issued.

Is it suitable for small children?

The park says the show suits both adults and children. A child ticket applies at 101-140 cm, children up to 100 cm are free but share a seat with a parent. Pyrotechnics and loud sound in some scenes may frighten young infants.

Can I film or photograph the show?

Not inside the theatre: cameras, video cameras and phones are left at the entrance, with free deposit and lockers. The ban in the rules applies to the theatre.

What is the dress code?

There is no formal dress code, but the park asks for respectable attire. Visitors are not admitted shirtless or in swimwear. The theatre is air-conditioned and can feel chilly.

Do I need to book ahead, and can I pick my seat?

The park recommends booking ahead. You cannot pick a seat: an automatic system assigns seats on the day of the show. At booking you choose only between Standard and Gold seat types.

Can I enter just to shop or walk around, without the show?

No. Entry is by ticket only, and the park does not sell park-only or shopping-only tickets. Every ticket includes park entry and Tiger Jungle Adventure.

What about the animals, and should I go if that is a concern?

Elephants take part in the show, a paid elephant ride appears in the evening plan, and tiger cubs can be held in the theatre lounge (the park says they are captive-born and availability is not guaranteed). You can skip the ride and the cubs: the show does not depend on them.
