What is inside Carnival Magic
Carnival Magic is an evening park in Kamala, next to Phuket FantaSea. Its website calls it the first Thai cultural carnival park: 40 acres (about 16 ha), 40 million lights and 88 giant parade floats. The site mentions 9 Guinness World Records, for example “longest single chassis parade float” (26 January 2020) and “most lights used in a permanent light and sound show” (15 October 2021).
The “River Carnival” parade. The main part of the evening. It runs in the River Palace Paradium, a 2,200-seat air-conditioned hall. According to the website the production has more than 150 actors and 150 crew, costumes up to 8 m tall, aerial ballet, animatronics, special effects and a stage over 70 m wide. It was more than three years in the making.
Kingdom of Lights. The illumination garden: after the parade guests walk through a garden with more than 40 million lights. It opens after the parade or at an announced time, not together with the park.
Carnival Fun Fair and Festivity Square. A fair with stalls, souvenirs and a handicraft bazaar. Festivity Square changes with the season: Christmas, Songkran and Chinese New Year.
Entertainment. The Festival of Colors street parade and the Happiness Falls fountain show run daily at announced times. There is also the JUMBOree games pavilion, VR games, craft demonstrations and an “Animal Funhouse” where, in the park’s words, you can spend time with “cuddly animal friends”. The website does not say which animals.
Restaurants. The park’s main buffet restaurant runs 17:30-20:30, on busy days 17:00-21:00. The River of Bliss restaurant is marked “coming soon”.
The evening step by step
According to the Park Information page on 18 October 2026. The park’s opening time is not stated consistently on the website: Park Information says 17:30, the footer 17:00. Plan for 17:30.
- 17:30: the park opens and the buffet starts
- 17:30-20:30: dinner at the buffet restaurant, the fair, games
- At the announced time: the street parade and the fountains
- 20:00: the River Palace Paradium hall opens
- 20:30: the “River Carnival” parade, about 45 minutes
- After the parade: Kingdom of Lights, the park stays open until 23:30
On some pre-announced dates the parade is shown twice, the second time at 18:30, with the hall opening 30 minutes earlier.
Opening days and how long to allow
The park opens on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. It advises arriving as early as possible and no later than an hour before the parade. An evening with dinner takes about 4-5 hours, 4-6 with the ride.
The website names no seasonal closure. The parade hall is air-conditioned, while Kingdom of Lights is outdoors, so heavy rain affects the second half of the evening. January-March are the driest months, August-October the wettest.
| Period | What to expect |
|---|---|
| December-March | dry, easy to walk Kingdom of Lights |
| April | hot, thunderstorms begin |
| May-October | rain: the parade is in the hall, the lights and the fair are outdoors, the river boat runs “weather permitting” |

The parade is in an air-conditioned hall and the restaurant is indoors. Kingdom of Lights and the fair are outdoors, and the boat ride along the river of lights runs “weather permitting” (the website’s wording). A ticket is not refundable or changeable, so bring an umbrella or rain jacket in the wet season and avoid booking the last day of your trip.
Safety and rules
The park’s rules page on the website is unavailable, so we did not check dress, filming or outside food rules. The website does list a first-aid post and on-site police, a pet suite at the entrance, ramps and lifts to most attractions, wheelchair, pram and trolley rental, a nursery and baby care centre, and prayer rooms. Services for guests with limited mobility are described in the Guests with Disabilities section of the park’s website.
Who it suits and who it does not
- Suits. Families with children and groups who want an evening with a parade, lights and dinner. Anyone who likes a spectacle of costumes, floats and light
- Does not suit. Anyone arriving on a Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Sunday: the park is closed. Anyone for whom noise, crowds and bright lighting are hard
