Where Srithanu is
Srithanu (Sri Thanu in many listings) is the village of Ban Sri Thanu on the west coast of Koh Phangan, in Ko Pha Ngan subdistrict. It is 7.2 km north of Thong Sala pier along the coast road. The subdistrict had 12,638 registered residents in December 2025; there is no separate figure for the village.
West coast beaches are nearby: Haad Yao and Haad Salad to the north, and a bay right by the village that OpenStreetMap labels Zen Beach. The west coast faces the sunset.
Who Srithanu suits
- People coming for yoga and meditation. On 17.10.2026 OpenStreetMap shows 13 yoga centres and schools within 1.5 km: Agama Yoga (two campuses), Anahata Yoga Shala, Gaia Yogashala, One Yoga Thailand, Samma Karuna and others
- Sunset lovers. The sun sets over the sea on this coast
- People who want the state hospital close. Ko Pha Ngan Hospital is 4.5 km and 7 minutes away, about as close as from Thong Sala (4.0 km)
- People who want beaches without parties. Haad Yao and Haad Salad are a few minutes away; Haad Rin and its parties are at the other end of the island
Who Srithanu does not suit
- Anyone who needs big shops nearby. Within 1.5 km there is one small supermarket and 10 convenience stores; Lotus’s, Big C and Tops are in Thong Sala
- Families who need an international school nearby. Both OPEC-licensed schools are in Ban Tai subdistrict; the village has the state school Ban Srithanu with 128 pupils
- Frequent Samui commuters. It is 11 minutes each way to the pier; not much, but living in Thong Sala itself is easier
- Condo buyers. The Treasury registry lists no condominiums on Phangan

Housing in Srithanu
The Treasury registry lists no condominiums on Phangan (snapshot of 05.08.2024). Housing in Srithanu means bungalows, houses and villas in the hills above the coast. Foreigners cannot own land in their own name; a 30-year lease is the usual route, see freehold and leasehold. We do not publish rents until we have our own dated measurements.
