The season and TMD’s October 2026 outlook
TMD describes the rainy southwest monsoon as blowing from May to October, followed by the cool, dry northeast monsoon from October. TMD’s outlook of 9 October 2026:
- the cool season in the centre and east should start around the third week of October 2026, a week later than average
- from mid-October to mid-November, thunderstorms over 20-30% of the east, with occasional gusty winds
- flash floods and flooding in low-lying areas are still possible in October in the centre and east
- for November in the east, including the coast, minimum temperatures of 24-26 °C and rain over 20-30% of the area
It is a long-range outlook, and TMD will update it in the last week of October.
The sea in October
The water is warm and swimming is fine. Boats to the islands stay in port when a storm warning is issued, so put sea trips early in your stay to leave room to reschedule. Follow the beach flag. TMD normals do not include sea temperature, so we give no figure.
Things to do in Pattaya in October
- Keep a plan B for each day: TMD does not publish hours of rain, so do not tie the beach to a single date
- Visit Nong Nooch Garden or pick a trip from Pattaya excursions
- Choose your area in advance: Pratumnak, Wongamat, Jomtien or Central Pattaya
- Catch the Vegetarian Festival in Bangkok on 10-18 October 2026 (TAT) or the Royal Barge Procession full-dress rehearsals on the Chao Phraya on 21 and 28 October; getting there is covered in Bangkok to Pattaya

Go if prices and fewer people matter more than a beach day every day. If dry weather matters, move the trip to November: the normals show four times less rain, see Pattaya in November. For other regions in October, see Thailand in October.
