What you will see at the aquarium

Underwater World Pattaya describes itself on its website as the only aquarium in the city. It is on Sukhumvit Road in Nong Prue, and the address on the site is 22/22 Moo 11, Sukhumvit Rd, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung, Chon Buri 20 150. The facts below come from the official website on 18 October 2026.

  • The acrylic tunnel. More than 105 metres long, with fish visible all around through 180 degrees. It has three zones: coral reef, sharks and rays, and Giant of Siam
  • Open Ocean Zone. Large predators: blacktip reef sharks, bigeye jacks and giant groupers
  • Giant of Siam Zone. A sunken ship as a home for Thailand’s freshwater and food fish
  • Jellyfish zone. According to the site, the biggest collection and display of jellyfish in Thailand
  • Touch Pool. Rock pools with animals from Thailand’s coastal waters, which visitors may touch
  • Magic Tank. The only tank in Thailand with an interactive “mystical gravity” concept, as the aquarium puts it
  • Reptiles and otters. A reptile zone and otters brought from Indonesia

The grounds are styled as a shore with sand and rocky rapids, like a private island. According to the aquarium, visitors can feed fish and turtles themselves.

Hours and how to spend the time

The aquarium is open daily from 9:00 to 18:00, with last admission at 17:30. The contact page says 9:00-17:30, probably the ticket office hours, so call 038 756 878 if you are going near closing time. The site carries no closure notice on 18 October 2026, and Thai Holiday Guide (a secondary source) gives the same hours and price.

How to spend the time:

  1. Walk the tunnel and zones in order, which is the main part
  2. Time your visit to a feeding: the morning shows run 10:30-11:30 and the afternoon ones 15:00-16:00
  3. Look in at the Touch Pool and the jellyfish zone
  4. Visit the reptiles and otters if you have time left

The site gives no official duration, so as a guide allow 1-2 hours (a Thaipedia estimate).

When to go and what the weather does

The aquarium is under cover and open all year, which is why people pick it for a wet day. TMD normals for the Phatthaya station (1991-2020) show September and October as the wettest months and December as the driest.

PeriodWhat to expect
November-Marchdry, so the aquarium can be combined with the beach or a garden
April-Augusthot, 67.9-132.1 mm of rain a month
September-Octoberthe wettest months, 16-17 rainy days, the aquarium works as a back-up

Getting there and how long it takes

From Central Pattaya to the aquarium it is 7.7 km and about 8 minutes by car without traffic, calculated with OSRM on OpenStreetMap data (map). It stands on Sukhumvit Road, so a taxi or ride-hailing app is simplest. There is no beach nearby: it is a city venue.

The website gives no public-transport directions. The aquarium’s phone is 038 756 878 and its email marketing@uwp.hawpar.com.

Tickets and fees

There is no DNP fee: the aquarium is a private attraction, not a national park. Prices from the website on 18 October 2026:

What to do in rain

  • The aquarium is indoors, so rain does not get in the way, but the road and the walk from the car park to the entrance may be wet: bring an umbrella
  • It is a back-up if a trip to Koh Larn is cancelled because of waves or rain
  • If the rain lasts all day, pair the aquarium with the Sanctuary of Truth in the morning and lunch in the city

Safety and animals

  • The jellyfish hall is dark (as the photos show), so hold children’s hands and watch your step
  • You may touch animals only at the Touch Pool: leave the other tanks and enclosures alone
  • The site gives no photography rules: ask staff whether flash is allowed
  • An aquarium keeps animals in captivity, so if you object to that format, choose another place
  • Feed fish and turtles only in the way the aquarium itself offers

Who it suits and who should skip it

  • Suits families with children. A child rate from 91 cm, scheduled feedings and a Touch Pool
  • Suits anyone who needs a day under cover. Rain, heat or beach fatigue
  • Skip it if you object to animals in captivity. It is an aquarium
  • Skip it if you expect the scale of the big aquariums. A 105-metre tunnel and a few zones make this a city aquarium, not the largest in the country
  • Skip it if you are afraid of the dark. The jellyfish hall is dark
