A first trip to Phuket needs two or three tours, not ten. Below is one tour for each situation: a couple, a family, three days, a week, rain and an evening. “Best” here always means best on a named measure: sights per day, weather, child age, price or season. Prices are the fares of operator Phuket Tour, our site’s partner, on 3 November 2026. They are one operator’s figures for one day, not a market average, and park fees and closures come from the DNP.

Seven picks by traveller and trip length

Adult and child fares in baht. Phuket Tour’s child fare starts at 4 years: the Similan, Racha and Coral, Khao Sok and James Bond catamaran pages state 4-11, while the Phi Phi, Khai and sunset pages name no upper age.

What each pick is chosen for

  • Phi Phi. Measure: sights per day. One day takes in Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon, Monkey Beach and Bamboo Island. If you want a bigger boat, the premium catamaran costs 2,900 baht per adult and 2,500 per child
  • Phang Nga Bay. Measure: weather. Islands shelter the bay from the open sea, so tours run almost all year. DNP describes calm waves in the northeast monsoon, with November as the exception. A cheaper day on the same bay is the big-boat programme with canoeing: 1,600 baht per adult and 1,400 per child
  • Khai. Measure: child age and time on the water. The speedboat crossing is about 20 minutes (Thai Holiday Guide) and the tour is a half day. Coral Island from Rawai pier is the next step up: 1,400 baht per adult and 1,300 per child for a day that runs 07:30-14:00
  • Similans. Measure: snorkelling, within a season. This is the only pick with a closed season: DNP closes the park from 16 May to 14 October, and the 2026/27 season opened on 15 October 2026. Surin is the longer alternative at 3,600 baht per adult, see the Surin Islands page
  • Racha and Coral. Measure: price. At 1,150 baht the day costs less than half of the Phi Phi speedboat
  • Khao Sok. Measure: weather. A land tour does not depend on waves. It is long, so book it for a rainy day you can spare, and read the rainy-day guide if you want a few hours indoors instead
  • Sunset dinner. Measure: time of day. It leaves at 14:30 and returns at 19:30, which leaves the morning free. If it rains, a theatre show is the fallback: Siam Niramit costs 1,800-2,600 baht per adult on its own site and is closed on Tuesdays

How the picks fit together

  • Three days. One far island, one bay and one evening: Phi Phi (2,600), Phang Nga Bay (2,600) and the sunset dinner (1,400) come to 6,600 baht per adult. For a child aged 4-11 the same three cost 5,400 baht (2,100, 2,100 and 1,200)
  • Five to seven days, November to May. Add the Similans (2,300) and Racha with Coral (1,150): five tours, 10,050 baht per adult. Keep one day free for weather, because boats are cancelled in storms. The day-by-day plan is in 7 days in Phuket
  • A family of four with two children from 4. The Khai half day costs 3,600 baht (2 × 1,000 + 2 × 800)
  • May to October. The Similans and Surin are closed and the sea is rougher on the west coast. Take Phang Nga Bay, Khai or Racha on calm days and a land tour on the rest. Dates for every island are in which islands are open in which month

The totals are our own sums of the fares in the table. A different operator, date or promotion changes them.

Three checks before you pay

  • Park fee. Phuket Tour’s Included lists name national park tickets for Phi Phi, the Similans, Racha and Coral, Khai and Khao Sok. The James Bond catamaran page has no Included block, so ask whether the Phang Nga Bay fee (300 baht per foreign adult, 150 per child, DNP) is in the price. The full list is in how much tours in Phuket cost
  • Child age. Ask what age counts as a child and whether a child under 4 is accepted: the Phuket Tour pages we read give fares only from 4
  • Weather. Ask in writing what happens if the boat does not sail: a new date or a refund. Operators can call off individual departures for weather

What this list does not do

We have no booking or review data, so popularity is not a measure here. We did not compare other operators’ fares for the same programmes on 3 November, and we did not check availability for any date. For a pick that fits your dates, the tour finder asks four questions and we then check seats.

FAQ

Which Phuket tour should I book first?

Phi Phi and Bamboo by speedboat: 2,600 baht per adult and 2,100 baht per child from 4 on Phuket Tour on 3 November 2026. One day covers Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon, Monkey Beach and Bamboo Island. Maya Bay is closed to landings from 1 August to 30 September, and swimming there is banned all year, so in those two months a Phang Nga Bay day is the safer first booking.

Which tour is best for a couple?

Phang Nga Bay by double-deck catamaran, 2,600 baht per adult on 3 November 2026: the bay is sheltered by islands, so tours run almost all year, and the day has sea caves, a stilt village and a limestone pinnacle. Add the sunset dinner on a catamaran (1,400 baht) for an evening. The cheaper alternative is the big-boat programme with canoeing at 1,600 baht.

What is the best tour with young children?

The Khai Islands half day: 1,000 baht per adult and 800 baht per child from 4. The speedboat crossing is about 20 minutes and the day ends by 14:00 or 17:00. Phuket Tour's child fares start at 4, so with a child under 4 ask the operator and read our guide to Phuket tours with kids. The next step up is Coral Island at 1,400 and 1,300 baht.

What should I book on a rainy day?

A tour that does not depend on waves. Khao Sok and Cheow Lan Lake is 2,600 baht per adult on 3 November 2026, but about 6 hours of the day are on the road. Boats are cancelled in storms, not in every shower: ask your operator the evening before. For a few hours indoors see our rainy-day guide. In the evening a theatre show is the fallback: Siam Niramit costs 1,800-2,600 baht on its own site and is closed on Tuesdays.

How many tours do I need for 3 days or a week?

Three days: one far island day, one Phang Nga Bay day and one evening, 6,600 baht per adult on Phuket Tour's fares of 3 November 2026. A week from November to May: add the Similans and Racha with Coral for about 10,050 baht per adult in total, and keep one day free because boats are cancelled in storms. The one-week plan is in our 7 days in Phuket itinerary.

Is the national park fee included in these prices?

On Phuket Tour's pages the Included list names national park tickets for the Phi Phi, Similan, Racha and Coral, Khai and Khao Sok programmes. The page of the James Bond catamaran has no Included block, so ask whether the Phang Nga Bay fee of 300 baht per foreign adult is in the price. Details are in our guide to tour prices.
