How to get from Bangkok to Krabi

Krabi is on the mainland on the Andaman coast, and from Bangkok you can fly there, take a bus or drive. There is no train to the province. Below are timetables and fares taken from AirAsia MOVE, the 12go aggregator and the State Railway of Thailand site on 19 October 2026, plus OSRM road distances.

By plane from Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang

This is the fastest option, and in price it is close to the bus. In AirAsia MOVE listings on 19 October 2026, direct flights are operated by Thai AirAsia, Thai Lion Air and Thai Vietjet, with a flight time of 1 h 20 min to 1 h 30 min. Bangkok Airways flies from Suvarnabhumi, and the 12go listing for 22 October shows a ticket at 2,975 baht. On the Bangkok Airways site, in the Flight Deals section on 19 October 2026, Bangkok (BKK) to Krabi (KBV) was from 2,180 baht one way for dates from October to February 2027, the flight time about 1 h 25 min, and 3,230-6,430 baht on 10-31 December in the price calendar. According to Aerotelegraph of 29 September 2026 the airline suspends Bangkok to Krabi from 10 December 2026 to 28 February 2027. We could not confirm this on the carrier’s site: its Announcements and Press Release sections had no such notice on 19 October, and the price calendar shows fares for dates after 10 December too, so the suspension is neither confirmed nor ruled out. Check the flight with the airline before you buy for those dates. The Thai Lion Air (Cloudflare check) and Thai Vietjet (access denied) pages did not open in automated mode, so the prices of these carriers remain from AirAsia MOVE and are not checked against their sites.

• One-way fare, October to January. Usually 1,111-1,689 baht: Thai Lion Air 1,111-1,334 baht, Thai Vietjet 1,201-1,453 baht, Thai AirAsia 1,477-1,689 baht. These are the lowest fares on specific dates, taken on the evening of 19 October (fares change through the day), so your day may cost more
• Baggage. Check at booking whether it is included: the AirAsia MOVE listing does not show it
• Thai AirAsia at Suvarnabhumi. Since 1 October 2026 the airline flies from Suvarnabhumi again, with 2 flights a day to Krabi and 5 to Phuket, and its main base remains Don Mueang (AirAsia Newsroom)

From Krabi Airport to Ao Nang it is 27.7 km and about 33 minutes by car (OSRM), and to Krabi Bus Terminal 9.6 km and 15 minutes.

By bus from Bangkok to Krabi

The night bus saves you an airport and costs almost as much as a low-cost ticket. For 22 October 2026 12go shows:

• Montanatip, Khao San 19:00, Ao Nang at 10:30 the next day, 15 h 30 min on the road, 912 baht
• Nara Travel, bus and minivan, Khao San 19:00, Krabi at 09:30, 14 h 30 min, 1,290 baht
• Nara Travel, bus and minivan, Khao San 19:00, Ao Nang at 10:30, 15 h 30 min, 1,449 baht

The cheapest options in the same listing, from 822 baht, take about 20 hours. The road is 771 km from Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal to Krabi Bus Terminal, about 9 h 14 min without traffic (OSRM), so stops and transfers account for the difference in time.

In 12go reviews from 2026 passengers write about a change to minivans at Surat Thani, a wait of about 2.5 hours and delays of 1.5 hours or more. These are customers’ opinions, not a carrier timetable. Leave a margin if you have tours or a ferry booked for the day you arrive.

Train and bus

There is no direct train to Krabi: the SRT station list has no station in Krabi province. The nearest station is Surat Thani. The SRT timetable from Krung Thep Aphiwat station, 644 km, taken on 19 October 2026 (four of the eleven trains):

From Surat Thani station to Krabi Bus Terminal it is 159 km by road and about 2 hours without traffic (OSRM). We found no fare or timetable for the bus or minivan between Surat Thani and Krabi in primary sources, so check on the spot. In total the train with a change takes longer than a flight, but it is handy if you want to lie down in a carriage.
