How to get from Phuket to Krabi

Krabi lies on the mainland east of Phuket, and you can reach it by road over the bridge to the mainland or by sea on a speedboat. Below are the options with fares and times taken from the 12go aggregator and carrier pages on 19 October 2026, plus OSRM road distances.

Minivan and bus

This is the most common way. In the 12go listing for 22 October 2026 there are 103 minivan trips (from 270 baht) and 17 bus trips (from 360 baht), with a journey time of about 4 hours in the trip descriptions. Examples from the listing:

• Patong to Ao Nang. An At Lanta Vacation minivan at 15:00, arriving at 19:00, ticket 598 baht
• Patong, Karon or Kata to Railay. A minivan with a boat connection at 07:00, arriving at 10:30, ticket 1,490 baht (12go labels such tickets “all connections guaranteed”)

Phuket Bus Terminal 2 and Krabi Bus Terminal are linked by a 165 km road, about 2 h 27 min without traffic (OSRM). In the 12go trip descriptions minivans take about 4 hours, longer than the OSRM estimate. From Krabi Bus Terminal to Ao Nang it is another 19 km, about 21 minutes by car.

Ferry from Phuket to Krabi

Speedboats run from Rassada and Laem Hin piers (Phuket Town) to Nopparat Thara Pier near Ao Nang. In the 12go listing for 22 October 2026:

• Bundhaya Speed Boat, Rassada Pier, 11:00, 1 hour, 1,100 baht
• Green Planet, Laem Hin Pier, 13:00, 1 h 30 min, 1,000 baht

The agent Phuket Ferry shows 8 trips a day by five operators for 22 October 2026, from 850 baht for an adult, taking from 1 h 10 min (direct from Rassada) to 3 hours (trips with stops), so the range matches the 12go listing. The operators’ own sites (Bundhaya, Green Planet, Ao Nang Princess) did not open when we checked, so we could not confirm their fares and times directly.

Times and prices are approximate. Bundhaya, through its agent Phuket Ferry, says the timetable may change because of weather and that a trip may be cancelled or replaced with other transport. If you travel in the rainy season (see low season in Phuket), buy a flexible ticket and do not plan the ferry for the day of a flight.

You also need transport from Nopparat Thara Pier to your hotel in Ao Nang, and from your Phuket hotel to Rassada Pier. Once you count the journey to and from the pier, the ferry does not always save time over a minivan. It suits you if you start in Old Town or Chalong and want to avoid the road across the mainland.

By plane: no direct flights

In AirAsia MOVE listings on 19 October 2026 there is no direct flight between Phuket and Krabi. There are tickets with a connection in Bangkok (Don Mueang or Suvarnabhumi), taking 5 h 35 min to 11 h 25 min, so longer than any land option. From Krabi Airport to Ao Nang it is 28 km, about 33 minutes by car (OSRM).

By taxi or your own car

By road it is 153 km from Phuket Airport to Krabi Airport and 157 km to Ao Nang, about 2 h 25 min without traffic. From Patong to Ao Nang it is 185 km, about 2 h 50 min. A private transfer is booked through your hotel or an app, and you should check the price before the trip: there is no single tariff.
