Koh Samui lies in the Gulf of Thailand and Phuket in the Andaman Sea, so you cannot go straight across by sea: you either fly, or travel overland to Surat Thani and change to a ferry. Below are timetables and fares taken from AirAsia MOVE, the 12go aggregator, Lomprayah and Raja Ferry on 19 October 2026.

A combined ticket. On the Raja Ferry site the bus and ferry from Phuket Bus Terminal 2 (departs 07:30, check-in at counter 21, the ferry leaves Don Sak at 14:00) reaches Lipa Noi Pier at 15:30 and costs 660 baht: the same for 22 and 26 October and 20 December 2026. On the Lomprayah timetable the bus and catamaran from Phuket take 6 h 15 min and cost 1,300 baht, or 1,500 baht with a hotel or airport pick-up. For 22 October 2026 12go shows a ticket below Lomprayah but above Raja Ferry, 820 baht from Phuket Bus Terminal 2 (08:00, arriving 15:30, 7 h 30 min), and a minivan with a ferry from Kata for 1,069 baht (9 hours). We did not find the carriers' own timetable for those two trips.

Is there a direct ferry from Phuket to Koh Samui?

No, the islands are on opposite coasts of the peninsula. Ferries to Samui run from the Gulf of Thailand, for example Raja Ferry from Don Sak Pier in Surat Thani, so from Phuket you first travel east by land. Raja Ferry lands at Lipa Noi Pier on Samui and lists Phuket Bus Terminal 2 among its departure points.

How long does it take to drive from Phuket to Koh Samui?

From Phuket Bus Terminal 2 to Don Sak Pier it is 287.7 km by road, about 4 h 10 min without traffic, and from the airport 266.5 km, about 3 h 55 min (OSRM). The Raja Ferry crossing takes about 1 h 30 min. Raja Ferry takes cars and publishes fares by route on its site. With the ferry that is about 5 h 40 min with no queue or stops, so in practice allow more than 6 hours.

Which Koh Samui pier does the bus and ferry arrive at?

It depends on the operator. The Lomprayah catamaran from Phuket arrives at Nathon Pier, and according to 12go the 08:00 trip from Phuket Bus Terminal 2 also goes to Nathon, the 1,449-baht ticket ends at the Seatran office, and Raja Ferry lands at Lipa Noi. You still need a ride to your hotel, so check the pier name on your ticket.
