Similan Islands reopen on 15 October, Maya Bay welcomes visitors from 1 October
The Andaman Sea season has begun: the Similan Islands in Phang Nga reopened on 15 October after a five-month monsoon closure, and Maya Bay on Phi Phi Leh has been open since 1 October. TAT expects the dry season proper to settle in by December.
What happened
- The Similans reopened on 15 October after five months closed, and more than 1,300 visitors arrived on the first day
- Maya Bay on Ko Phi Phi Le has been welcoming visitors again since 1 October
- Six marine national parks, including Similan, Surin, Phi Phi, Phang Nga Bay and Ko Lanta, have sold electronic tickets since October 2025
- October and early November can still bring rain, and boats may stay in port when the waves are high
- For December and January, TAT advises booking ferries and island accommodation early
What it means for youBuy your marine national park ticket in advance and bring your passport. Keep a spare day in your plans in case a boat trip is cancelled because of the waves.
