Thailand’s 90-day report, TM.47, is an address notification during a long stay without leaving the country. It is separate from visa eligibility, the permission-to-stay date and the accommodation provider’s TM30 notification. Identify the procedure you need before choosing a filing channel.
TM.47, TM30 and extensions
| Procedure | Purpose | Does not replace |
|---|---|---|
| TM.47, 90-day report | Periodic address notification during a long stay | Extension of stay or the TM30 duty |
| TM30 | Accommodation notification by the responsible host | The traveller’s periodic TM.47 report |
| Extension of stay | A decision on further permitted stay | Automatic compliance with every subsequent address report |
| LTR TM.95 | The LTR programme’s separate annual report | The host’s TM30 obligation |
The general TM.47 rules are checked against the Immigration Bureau handbook. The handbook itself is dated 8 November 2019; Tak’s official copy is in its July 2026 upload directory. It establishes general rules, not today’s queue at every office. The LTR exception comes from BOI’s FAQ.
Working out the date
Check your latest Thai arrival and any next-report notification issued by Immigration. The handbook says that after departure and re-entry, counting starts again from the latest arrival. Do not count from paying rent or buying a flight.
If an initial extension procedure produces a new report date, retain it and clarify any conflict with your office. Do not assume that every later extension automatically replaces TM.47. With a new passport, address change or record error, ask how to update the record before attempting an online submission.
The permission-to-stay stamp is a separate deadline. Filing an address report does not allow an overstay or repair an expired permission.
Different channels, different planning
| Channel | Reviewed source | Practical plan |
|---|---|---|
| In person or through an authorised representative | Handbook:15 days before to 7 days after the reporting date | Confirm the office and working day in advance |
| Registered post | Handbook: advance posting 15 days before the date | Confirm the address and local requirements, retain tracking |
| Online | Indexed current guide: the 15-day period before the date; older handbook says 15-7 days before | Start as the window opens and keep a week to resolve rejection or attend an office |
The online row does not promise online acceptance for seven days after the due date. Do not transfer the general in-person grace period to the website. The direct online-manual page returned 403 during checking, so its availability and acceptance of an individual request cannot be promised.
Filing online and checking the outcome
- Open official TM.47 through the Immigration Bureau site
- Register or sign in with an email account you can access
- Enter passport, latest-arrival and current-address details consistently with your documents
- Review and submit within the applicable window
- Monitor the status and keep the application reference
- After acceptance, download the Receipt of Notification and check the next date
Submission, an acknowledgement email and an accepted notification are different states. An application reference alone does not establish completion. If rejected, unresolved or unable to use the site, contact the responsible office before the applicable deadline and use an accepted alternative channel.
For a first report or changed passport details, do not leave the online check until the last day. Establish the remote-filing procedure for your circumstances rather than attempting to solve a mismatch with invented information.
Documents for an office or postal filing
The published handbook lists a passport, TM.47 and a previous receipt if one exists. For registered post, it specifies applicant-certified copies of the biodata, latest-arrival-stamp and visa pages, plus an addressed return envelope with postage. Do not mail the original passport instead of those copies.
This is the handbook baseline. Confirm any local additions, current form, address evidence and representative procedure with the receiving office. Bangkok Immigration’s blank TM.47 explains the fields without guaranteeing the complete local package.
Finding the correct office
The handbook directs you to the office responsible for where you live. Locate its current official site through Immigration Bureau, check where that office handles TM.47 and confirm working hours and public holidays. An appointment for another visa service or visitor group is not automatically a 90-day report appointment.
Chiang Mai Immigration, for example, lists online services and forms separately. For a requested address letter, use the different Certificate of Residence procedure. Long-term renting covers TM30; the visa overview covers stay categories.
If reporting is late
The handbook specifies an in-person visit and a 2,000-baht fine for late notification. This is not a universal tariff for every violation or an extension fee. If permission to stay has also expired, address that status separately with Immigration; TM.47 does not restore it.
FAQ
Does a 90-day report extend my visa?
No. It is an address notification, while permission to stay has a separate deadline. Check the passport date independently of the next reporting date.
Does TM30 replace TM.47?
They serve different purposes. The host notification does not replace a required periodic report; LTR has a separate annual procedure.
Do I keep the old receipt date after leaving and returning?
The handbook restarts counting from the latest arrival. Keep the arrival information and clarify any conflicting next-date record.
Is an online report complete when I submit it?
Keep the final accepted notification and the next reporting date. An application number establishes submission rather than acceptance.
