The figure «THB 220» for a cash withdrawal keeps circulating in blogs and chats. For Kasikornbank it is outdated: the fee rose to THB 250, and for Mastercard to THB 350. The same amounts appear in the tariffs of Bangkok Bank, SCB, Krungsri and Krungthai. Below are the figures from the banks’ official documents as checked on 19 October 2026, and ways not to overpay.

What a Kasikornbank ATM charges

Kasikornbank (KBank) publishes its tariff as a separate PDF. Item 18, «Cash withdrawal via K-ATM», gives the fee for international cards, quoted per transaction. We compared four versions of the document:

Tariff effective fromVisaUnionPay (CUP)Mastercard

A separate line in the tariff lists THB 20 for cards issued by non-bank issuers in Thailand. It does not apply to tourists.

What about other banks

We opened the current tariffs of the other four banks. As of 19 October 2026 they all show the same picture: THB 250 for Visa and UnionPay, THB 350 for Mastercard.

What else the tariffs list:

  • JCB. THB 250 at SCB, Krungsri and Krungthai
  • APN network (Asian Payment Network). THB 50 at Bangkok Bank, SCB and Krungthai
  • Other foreign cards at Bangkok Bank. Cards of foreign banks outside the networks listed are charged THB 150
  • Limit per withdrawal. Krungthai’s tariff states up to THB 20,000 per transaction on Visa and Mastercard. We found no limit in the other banks’ tariffs
  • Withdrawal at a branch counter. Krungthai charges THB 200 per transaction on Visa and Mastercard, which is cheaper than its Mastercard ATM fee, but you have to go to a branch

Krungthai’s earlier version of the tariff (a document with amendments to 2023) said THB 220; the release of 12.10.2026 says THB 250 and 350. Tariffs change: KBank revised its own twice in two years, so check the amount on the ATM screen before you confirm. We did not check the tariffs of ttb and GSB.

How to pay less

  • Withdraw less often and in larger amounts. The fee is flat: THB 250 on THB 3,000 is about 8.3%, on THB 10,000 it is 2.5%, on THB 20,000 it is 1.25%. The limit per transaction depends on the bank and the card (Krungthai: THB 20,000), so a large sum cannot be withdrawn everywhere
  • Choose baht when the ATM offers its own conversion. This is dynamic currency conversion (DCC). The ATM must show the amount in two currencies, the rate and the markup, and may not choose for you; if the details are missing or you feel pressured, Visa recommends declining. In Krungthai’s tariff this service at its ATMs costs 5% of the amount
  • Cancel if the fee on the screen is not acceptable. Find another ATM: the fee depends on the bank and the card
  • Compare with exchanging cash. US dollars in 100 and 50 notes at a licensed exchange are usually cheaper; see the guide on where to exchange money and the answer on which dollars to bring
  • TAGTHAi Easy Pay wallet. At KASIKORNBANK ATMs you can withdraw cash by QR with no card, free according to TAGTHAi; the terms state a limit of up to THB 10,000

Your own bank’s terms add to the Thai fee: it may charge its own fee for foreign withdrawals and for conversion. For Russian UnionPay cards these figures are covered in do Russian cards work in Thailand.

What we could not find

  • The tariffs of ttb and GSB: we did not check them
  • The maximum amount per withdrawal on a foreign card at KBank, Bangkok Bank, SCB and Krungsri: it is not in their tariffs, and the KBank K-ATM page is closed to an automated browser
  • English versions of the Bangkok Bank and SCB tariffs: both documents are published in Thai only, so the figures come from the tables

FAQ

Why do chats say THB 220 when the ATM asks for 250 or 350?

THB 220 was the price under Kasikornbank's tariff of 24 May 2024. Since 1 January 2026 KBank charges THB 250 for Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay withdrawals, and since 20 May 2026 THB 350 for Mastercard. The same THB 250 and 350 appear in the tariffs of Bangkok Bank, SCB, Krungsri and Krungthai. Old figures live on in blogs and chats, so rely on the ATM screen and the bank's current tariff.

Does the fee depend on the amount withdrawn?

The banks' tariffs state the fee per transaction, not as a percentage. On THB 3,000 a THB 250 fee is about 8.3% of the amount, on THB 10,000 it is 2.5%, and on THB 20,000 it is 1.25%. Krungthai's limit per withdrawal is THB 20,000; for the other banks we have not confirmed a limit from a primary source.

Should I choose baht or my card's currency on the screen?

Baht. Under Visa's rules the ATM must show the amount in both currencies, the rate and any markup, and may not choose for you. If these details are missing or you feel pressured, Visa recommends declining the conversion. Then your own bank sets the rate rather than the ATM owner. Krungthai's tariff lists 5% of the withdrawn amount for this service at its ATMs.

Is there a way to withdraw cash with no ATM fee?

We found no public fee-free tariff for foreign bank cards. The exception for tourists with a TAGTHAi Easy Pay wallet: TAGTHAi says withdrawals at KASIKORNBANK ATMs are free, but the limit is worded «Up to 10,000 Baht/transaction/month», which is ambiguous. How to get the wallet is explained in the guide on [paying by QR](/en/living/money/qr-payments/).
